a pretty hairstyle :)

So I found this on Stumbleupon: http://thebeautydepartment.com/2011/06/pin-it-up-girl/
It's called the "Twisted Sister."  It's really pretty and looks easy enough! Below is just a little preview of it, but click on the link to get the bigger image.

Looks pretty simple to me; thought I'd share it. ^^

Are you smarter than a fifth grader? I mean...your little brother?

So I just gotta say...how in the heck do kids get so smart?

I came home to visit family for the weekend, and last night my little brother asked me to tell him a story before bed.  He's has his traditions- my sister, Lindsay, always tells him about The Trojan Horse.  I always tell him about The Candy House (Hansel and Gretel).

So last night as I was telling my version of the story, Levi kept interrupting me.  "Um, excuse me 'Lisha, but you're wrong.  The witch was green, and she has a wart on her nose."  Up until this point, Levi had never noticed that my story is always slightly different.  You see, I tend to make parts of it up as I go along, due to lack of memory.  I asked him, "How do you know?"  He informed me (oh so calmly) that according to the book, the witch had green skin.  I quickly reassured him that the book was incorrect.  Thankfully he is still at that age where my opinion trumps published books.

This morning I was Googling coloring pages of Captain America for him.  He was standing beside me, intently watching.  Our conversation went as follows:
Levi: "I should send a picture to Jon!  He would love a picture of Captain America.  Do you know why?"
Me: "Why?"
Levi: "Because Captain 'Merica is in the army."
Me: "No he' not Levi."

Levi: "Yes, he is."
Me: "No, he's not."
Levi: "You should read the book."
Jon (listening through Skype): "He's right Alisha."

I guess sometimes there comes a point where you just can't outsmart them anymore...

Here's a few inspiring things I found on random websites lately.  They can be quite inspiring if you let them. :3

May the magic be with you. ^^

my year + element

So I was looking through random blogs, and I found one that hadn't been updated since last winter.  The author was talking about how it was the Chinese New Year and what the year's animal and element was.  So I decided to look up my own year and element.  I am year of the horse and my element is metal! :3 Of course, I had no idea what that even meant, so I had to look it up.

The Chinese believed that the elements provided deeper understandings of our inner beings.  The elements include water, fire, metal, earth, and wood.  Every explanation I read reminded me of the game "Rock, Paper, Scissors."  Scissors cuts rock, rock smashes scissors...etc.  Every element can overpower or be overpowered by another.  They all have strengths and weaknesses.  I think it ties into the Yin-Yang somehow...but my mind is still a bit confuzzled about it all.

Some people say it's myth, others take it as fact.  What do you think?  I don't really know anyone who actually has a developed opinion about this.  http://www.thechineseelements.com/Whatelementareyou.htm <-- This website has you take a test that tells your element based off of physical problems.  When I took it, my element was supposedly "fire."  However, when I looked at the charts based off my birthday month/year, my element was metal.  Who knows?  Anyone out there have any thoughts or input on this?  I'm simply curious about it.

Fishie Features! =]

Hello lovelies!  I have some exciting news!!  I got FISHES!!  So, I thought it would be appropriate to do a little feature for them.  ^__^

First off, I got an upside-down catfish.  It looks like a regular catfish, only it's upside down.  It actually swims upside-down and eats upside-down.  Sometimes it swims right-side up, lol, but usually it doesn't.  I don't know its gender, and according to the research I did my fish is too young to tell.  So I have named it Berkeley. :3

Next I shall mention my plecostomus, my little cleaning friend.  It sucks to things in the tank as well as the sides of the tank, eating the algae and keeping everything clean.  I also do not know its gender. ;;__;;  So I have deemed it Ellington!  I think it sounds rather sophisticated.  p:

Last, but not least, my miniature lobster.  I know for a fact that it's a she!  (Exciting day!)  She is quite active and at nights likes to hide inside of Squidward's house.  XD  It's fun to watch her eat, too.  She is very particular about how she picks up the food and breaks it into chunks.  Her name is Tayla.

Well that's it for tonight. :]  I need to go feed my fishies and get to bed.  Until next time!!

"You were WHAT for Halloween?!"

With Hallows Eve today- Monday, October 31, 2011, I decided to post some wacky costume pictures I found on the web.  Just when you think costumes couldn't get any weirder, they do.  Some of them are pretty stinkin creative, but some of them you just think "What??"

Pixelated, if you please

Mister Rogers...epic fail...
^ This is one of those times where I thought to myself, "Buddy, are you trying to get on the sex offenders list?"

Dynamite Looks
Okay, I gotta admit...these people did a pretty stellar job. "Kip"'s roller blades and "Rex-Kwon-Do"'s flag pants really take the cake...

What a ham!
The caption underneath this picture on its original website said "If you have to label your costume so people know what you are, then you've made a mistake."  Haha.  I think this one is pretty self-explanatory.

Rudolph, the Thug Reindeer
The only thing this costume says is, "Give me your candy or I'll shoot you."

After searching for crazy Halloween costumes, I think it's safe to say that you should dress up as something normal this year, like maybe a hamburger or a kleenex box.  Chances are, reindeer and Mister Rogers won't work out for you. x)
